THERAPY

  • Associate's degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or related field.

  • Certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) preferred.

  • Previous experience working with children with special needs, particularly non-verbal children, is highly desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including Speech-Language Pathologists, teachers, and parents.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs.

  • Proficiency in using AAC devices and familiarity with various communication modalities.

  • Ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students.

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Document student progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports for parents and caregivers.

  2. Participate in team meetings, professional development activities, and workshops to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices in speech-language pathology.

  3. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes communication and social interaction among students.

  4. Utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and strategies to support non-verbal students in accessing communication.

  5. Work directly with students to deliver therapy interventions designed to improve communication skills.

  6. Create a prepared environment that is conducive to independent exploration, discovery, and learning.

  7. Facilitate hands-on, experiential learning experiences that cater to the individual needs and interests of each child.
